Current Mood: conflicted
Okay, so the next big "purchase" I am debating:
A trip to OSU in a little over 2 weeks (Nov. 10) to see Avenged Sevenfold play in Columbus
Should I stay:
* BIG improv show that weekend. While my attendance is not vital, I'm one of the senior members and I usually am an anchor for several games.
* Tickets cost 25 dollars
* I have no way of getting there, really. No car.
* Greyhound tickets (round trip) are somewhere between 80 and 120 dollars - ouch.
* Last trip to OSU ended poorly (totaled my car)
Or should I go:
* I've been to nearly every improv show for the past three years, so I think the troupe can deal. Other than that, I have nothing that weekend.
* I can beg Eric to help with the tickets.
* I could find my new best friend and borrow (!) a car.
* I could suck it up and buy the tickets and make an adventure of it. Jenny might help if I really want to go.
* I found out today my budgeting is paying off, and I have a tiny bit of extra money. Additionally, I'd be saving money by staying with David/Dan/Eric
* I would get to see David/Dan/Eric
* I get to road trip
* Get to see OSU s'more
* Have only been to one other concert. This is Avenged fucking Sevenfold, and they'd be playing some of their new stuff, too!
Weigh in, please. Convince me.

I say go. You do a lot for improv, and I think you've more than earned taking a show off. They'll be fine without you!
ReplyDelete25 bucks for a concert ticket is CHEAP these days, and most of the bands you really like aren't even still all alive, much less touring. And to go with a good friend who you hardy ever get to see... I would think that makes it tons better.
Greyhound would probably suck at least as much as the train, and it is expensive-- but all in all if you could make it a weekend for a bit over $100, that's not *too* much.
The "last trip ended poorly" argument sounds a LOT like superstition, so I'm pretty surprised you'd even include it (although I can definitely see that it'd come to mind).
I can see your hesitation, but you've done a whole lot of stressing lately and a little vacation couldn't hurt. :)
I'm going to say go to OSU.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm going to play the "THAT GUY" card:
This is coming from "that guy" who dug a friend's Lincoln town car out of the snow with his bare hands (okay, so I had glove) to go to the Hammond show.
GO! You'll have a good time, and Jenny is right - $25 is cheap for a concert, plus you have people you can stay with. College is all about spending your hard-earned money on crazy road trips, and you should get on that. I once decided to drive down to Florida with my friend Michelle and go to Disney World during Thanksgiving break (we decided this about a week ahead of time). We stayed with her sister, who went to UCF, and had a blast. Sure, I was broke afterwards - but it was totally worth it.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Jenny and all that jazz. No long, informed, and weighted opinions from me.
