And now for some football...

Purdue won! A sound defeat of the resurgent Iowa Hawkeyes last Saturday leaves us 6-2 all and 2-2 in our conference, bowl elligble and good for 5th place (tied) in the Big Ten. Next: 2-2 5-3 Northwestern Wildcats.

Cowboys won 24-14 over the Minnesota Vikings, rebounding from a MNF loss to the Patriots. This leaves them at 5-1, the best non-undefeated team in the NFL as they head into a bye week. Tony Romo broke things off with Carrie Underwood since he's too busy kicking ass and taking names.

Steelers lost to the Broncos (good for AFC North), Seahawks rolled over the winless Rams and finally look like a decent team again as they also have a bye this week.

Reggie Bush led the Saints over the Falcons, 22-16. Drew Brees wasn't terrible, and they are now 2-4 like the 49ers they play next week.

Bengals win over Jets, 38-31. This snaps a 4 game losing streak, the longest of coach Marvin Lewis's career. RB Kenny Watson had a field day as Rudi Johnson's backup, with 130 yards, 3 TDs (2 in the 3rd quarter), which put him in the top 5 scorers of the week. We finally climb back to 2-4, and play the Steelers (4-2) next week at home.

Colts embarassed the Jaguars on MNF this week, easily winning 29-7. Highlights include a rare safety by Indianapolis, and the Jacksonville mascot bungee jumping and riding a Segway. Hopefully they will stay undefeated up to and after they play the Patriots in a few weeks.

Next week on MNF: Green Bay Packers! (5-1) vs. Denver Broncos (3-3)

Some fantasy football thoughts. Oy...in addition to starting 0-7, the Miami Dolphins have lost RB Ronnie Brown for the season with an ACL injury. This means my star sleeper stud is gone. I lost again this week, and I probably would not have if Tom Brady hadn't scored FIFTY FUCKING POINTS. I'm going to offer a bounty on that man's kneecaps soon. On the plus side, Fox Fantasy has a nifty feature that shows you (after the games are over) what your "optimal" picks for the week should have been to net you the most points. Even though I've lost a few close games, I've been playing close to if not exactly the optimal players which means I'm making good choices. Now to get better players...

Lastly, if you're into football, vote for the Pro Bowl!
