To proceed with caution or head into the fire

The next two weeks before my Thanksgiving break are going to be brutal beyond reason. Engineering 106 has been taken to the next level. Our old engineering groups have been disbanded, and we're now expected to complete two group assignments and another project very soon with new groups. On top of that, I have three upcoming exams (calculus, physics, and chemistry), and another one the day I get back from break (engineering 106). I have a mega-chem lab next week (looks like I'm gonna miss the aero lecture) and a heap of other work to do. It hit me a few days back how bad I want to go home and eat and sleep.

Purdue lost to the Iowa Hawkeyes 23-21 in another disappointing loss. We're now 5-3, 2-3 Big Ten. Our star QB and Heisman hopeful, Kyle Orton has fallen from grace into the shadows and the team hasn't lost four games in a row since 1993. Bruised, dejected, and in dire need of some hope, our team needs one more win (OSU next weekend, and our rival IU the week after) to be bowl eligible for the 8th time in eight years. Most of the fans around here have given up on Purdue, but I'm sticking with them. Boiler UP!

I've cast aside my feeble excuses of homework and weather to re-vitalize my workout regimen. I've dropped a few pounds since last time I checked, but I have three new goals:
*Eat
*Go to the gym at least three times a week
*Bench press my own body weight by the end of next semester (plenty of time because I cannot lift any faster than my back will let me...Advil to the rescue!)

Went to see "The Incredibles" with Jason Saturday night, and it was stupendous to say the least. They somehow managed to forget to play the Episode III trailer, but what happened after the movie sorta made up for it. Jason went to play poker with some of his buddies so I stopped by Wendy's for a post-movie frosty. I didn't know they closed at 11:00pm, but four other huge guys walked up and got the attention of some girl that was closing by banging on the windows. They must've known her, because she quietly opened the door and offered all of us some free food (score!). As we're waiting for her, they strike up a conversation-

Guy 1: So, what grade are you in?
Ryan: Oh, I'm a Freshman...what about you guys?
Guy 2: We're all Freshmen too. What school do you go to?
Ryan: ...*points to hoodie* Purdue?
Guy 3: Oh. *casually* We go to West Lafayette High School.

  2. Its not the same anymore is it? The high school guy and you that is. It's like you're two ompletely different species of man now one higher on the evolutionary ladder than the other.

  3. I suppose that's one way to look at it. I'm not so sure that's entirely accurate, though, because I'm not sure I've changed that dramatically.

and besides...the old Ryan could drop me with a swift punch to the spine.
