McCutcheon Madness!

Weekend activities:

Friday night Improv (definitely want to join the gang after at Applebee's next time- I would've gone, but I promised Sarah I would see a movie with her, and I don't cancel plans with friends when something "better" comes up)

Went to see "Troy" at the Stewart center (discount for students) with Sarah and Cathleen, although it did get cancelled half an hour in (just as Orlando Bloom returns to Troy with his girl) because of some sort of emergency...still haven't quite figured out what was up. But they made us leave. Realy wasn't too spectacular for the 30 minutes or so that I saw, except for when Achilles (Pitt) stabs the guy in the shoulder. Brad- you were right. Walls of Troy should definitely been grander. Instead, Sarah, Cathleen and I went to Subway (which I just recently discovered I like) and then watched Newsies and High Fidelity.

Saturday, Jason taught me some of the finer points of football and Alex (my newest friend from my Engineering 106 team) taught me how to play Raquetball. It's a lot harder than I thought, but it turns out I have a natural serve that's somewhat difficult to return, so I won 1 game, and lost 3 by a margin of 5 points.

Went to see George Carlin perform his stand-up routine on Saturday night. w00t. Mom got me an excellent seat just 8 rows back. Never been so close to somebody "famous". The opening comic was hilarious (especially because he was all about classic rock). Carlin, however, was real hit-or-miss. Some of his jokes crippled me with laughter, others really weren't that great. And a few I'd heard before. Still, it was really great and I enjoyed it.

Sunday was "sleep in day" (midnight-2pm). I kinda rolled out of bed, played around on the computer, then walked outside to a gigantic horde of people. McCutcheon Madness was in full swing- a giant party with prizes, games, and bunches of those giant inflatable games you find at afterprom...I meandered around and picked up a free shirt (light blue was the color for 6 North and 6 South) and free dinner. I played a game of tug-of-war with the purple floor (?) against the massive guys on orange floor (?). We won only because we tied our end to a tree. Brains over brawns.

Coming up this week is the Industrial Roundtable at Purdue (giant massive job fair, mostly for Engineers) which I plan on attending. I'm going to a few different seminars and lectures, and I will definitely stop by a select few booths for certain companies (NASA, Lockheed Martin, Boeing, United Space Alliance, Ball Aerospace, Cessna, Northrop Grumman, and Rockwell) and perhaps show them my resume. It's not totally out of question...Purdue Engineers have quite a reputation, and I've heard from more than a few professors and upperclassmen that the hiring companies definitely like to see motivated and enthusiastic freshmen (that would be me) even if they're not qualified...yet. A lot of upperclassmen get interviews or jobs on the spot. So I'll be there a lot this week.

I also have a Chemistry exam on Thursday. Yes, let's tack an exam onto the WORST DAY OF THE WEEK. I'm gonna go workout, and then try to break this awful habit of not doing any schoolwork on the weekend. It's gonna be a busy week.
