Current Music: "Crazy On You" by Heart
Back in Cincinnati. Back from Purdue for the summer. Back at my other home where my life slows to a virtual standstill and doesn't change nearly as often as it does at college. Not that that's any excuse for my gross disregard for my own etiquette rules for posting once a month at the minumum- I haven't fired up the 'ol Blogger page in at least a month and a half. Dial-up isn't much of an excuse as much as an inconvenience. I just haven't found the right words or moment to blog. Blogging is like a good habit- you have to be committed to keep doing it. Regardless, the blame falls squarely on my shoulders...I just haven't been posting. My life has been in directions I haven't even imagined. However, I will attempt to spell some of it out for you.
Beginning with...
My family.
*Dad
Dad's shoulder has healed and he's back to being his superhuman healthy SuperDad self. He quit his day job (literally) as kitchen manager of Montgomery Care Center. The company can't maintain business like it used to and dad says he's run enough failing businesses to recognize when it's time to jump ship. This means he's now doing a myriad number of things, including his home inspection business, having taken on a business partner, Michael Breeding. He's also a part-time painter with some of his old friends, as well as realizing his dream as a real-estate investor, buying properties, fixing them up, and then selling them (repeating as necessary). Dad now runs all over the place paying bills and working trying to keep everything together.
*Mom
I've actually heard from mom in the past few weeks. We've managed to go to a few dinners, I borrowed her car, and whatnot, but there's still a huge rift. She recently took a vacation and flew to Utah and Alaska. I got a postcard. I'm pretty sure she was supposed to be working with Dad on the divorce or at least staying with Brad.
*Erica
Graduated from Miami University with a degree in Creative Writing with an emphasis on Poetry. Bought a new Rav 4 that she loves to death, and recently was hired on at Wondergroup, an advertising firm downtown that works to create ads for a younger audience. She wowed the interviewers with her creativity and wit (no big suprise) and currently is working on the House of Leaves.
*Brad
Just finished school and is now a high school freshman at the Communication and Technology School at GE. He's doing summer band and bouncing from house to house.
Friends.
*Amy
Sis's former roomate that graduated (also from Miami as an Anthropology major) and now lives with us. Also working on the House of Leaves project. Cooks, cleans, and drives for us, because she's just that nice. Loves to watch movies.
*Jason Collett
Leaving for a Mormon Mission Trip in July.
*Kristy Grachek
Volunteered for MP duty in a women's prison in Iraq with the Marines. I fully support her decision and I hope that she stays safe while she's away.
*David, Dan, and Eric
My pals over at OSU don't finish school for almost another week. Chances are I'll be hanging out with them quite a bit, especially over at David's house.
*Jen and Aaron
Aaron graduated and now he's going to be at Purdue next year. I visited them for his graduation and I hope to see them again before school starts.
...more later

Glad to see you're still alive Ryan!
ReplyDeleteHe-Hey Ryan! What is it in the world of blogging? First it was the all blog exodus. And now people are vowing to kickstart their blogs once again (including me) Anyway keep posting.
ReplyDeleteHey Ryan, good to hear you're still alive. We missed you at Wes's wedding last weekend. Which reminds me, I need to finally go write a big fat blog post about that.
ReplyDeleteA couple weeks ago (has it been that long?) after Ashley and Benji helped move my junk into Benji's apartment, we went to Sgt. Preston's for dinner. As she was putting down our food and leaning over the table, our waitress apologized for having short arms. Benji and I had to stifle our laughter. You should've been there, T-Rex.
lol, I'm glad you didn't say anthing horrible about me..
ReplyDeleteHey Ryan still on break? Where are you man?
