Current Mood: soggy
Current Music: "More Than A Feeling" by Boston
*I rocked my Hillenbrand interview.
*The fountains are on, the weather is beautiful, and the campus is gorgeous.
*I finished that damned Napoleon Dynamite paper.
*Finished with chemistry labs (for this semester at least).
*It's now Grand Prix Week (aka drink all week, race Saturday), next week is Dead Week (study like hell), then Finals Week (die a slow painful death).
Posts are getting longer but more infrequent because I've been busier than hell lately. Lots of comedy, and I'm on the very last weeks of the end of my Freshman semester here at Purdue. Final exams are two weeks away, and my English conference is at the end of next week. Depending on the final, curves, and several other factors, my gpa could be anywhere from really bad to good. Never mind that Physics 152 is the toughest class here at Purdue, or that Calc II is damn near impossible. That all said...
Show: Provstock '05
Venue: Leonard Theatre at Miami University (Oxford, Ohio)
Audience: ~40 improv performers and enthusiasts, including the Tower Players, the Andy Ober Orchestra, and my brother and father
Fools: 6
Comments: Erica, along with the rest of Miami's Tower Players hosted a two day comedy extravaganza and invited the Ship of Fools along for some laughs. I actually told Paul about this event way back last semester, before I was actually in the group, but I jumped on board the Ship and we set sail for one of the funniest adventures we've ever had! Even traffic on the high seas couldn't stop this intrepid voyage, Wes at the helm and me as the copilot.
The TPers had several groups that shared with us new warmups (agazingazingazinga), new bad pun games (Last Action Hero!), and even inspired us to consider longform performances. Sis and I were both on the official program, something that hasn't happened since she was a high school senior and I was a mere freshman. Also, we heard the Weird-Al-esque comedy stylings of the AOO and saw some alumni improvers risk their lives in an oxygen-deprival game of stupendous showmanship.
The Fools, however, delivered comedic gold. Quite frankly, that was the best show I'd ever seen from the Ship, much less been in. Paul and I opened with a Two Person Story about Top Stalin- a ruthlesser dictator with Iron Fists of Curtain! Benji, Wes and I broke the Three Things record in a time of "one half of three minutes". I heard nothing but laughter from the stage as we raced through our set, (I even made it to the end of Do-Run-Run) culminating with a vicious Story, Story, Die. I got some laughs with my "cookbook" style, but Paul's arm nearly broke trying to fake out Kyle and Wes to the very end! The audience loved it! Dad, Brad, Sis, Jacob, Jared, Mark, Michael, and everybody told me it was all fantastic, and I even was asked for my autograph. It was an incredible show. We can sexy!
Unofficial winner: Erica and The Tower Players, for an excellent weekend
Show: Grand Alternative Murder Mystery Comedy Show
Venue: Hillel, the campus Jewish center
Audience: ~25 kosher students and Hillel staff
Fools: 8, all but Wes
Comments: Hot on the heels of our ImprovFest weekend, the Fools close out the spring semester with their end of year performance. We almost had a full Ship, and I finally got to improv with Jeff. We're working on a full set of nicknames for the entire group. This was my first Purdue show that was at a normal time, and once I got on stage, my nervousness dissolved. I just got up there and punned like I'd never punned before. I even got 2/3 of the way through a Do-Run triplet. Lots of my friends came by just to see my first real show, including Jen, Alex & company, Jason, and Patrick. Another hilarious show, and a great way to end the season.
Unofficial winner: Me, apparently, for the "wifebeater" pun and the Spongebob Squarepants impression?
I love improv comedy with the Fools, and all of my other friends here at Purdue are awesome. I was reminded on Saturday, however, that I still have kickass friends back home. I had a message when I got back:
JediMaster0014: i'm ordering tickets for the 12:01 showing of ep III here. i'm getting one for you. if you don't come, i'll find someone else to come... if you do, then it'll be the greatest thing ever
This means for Episode III (probably going to be the coolest movie, well, in recent years), I'll be in Columbus at OSU with the 'ol Amelia gang for, well, the greatest thing ever.
I think that's enough for now.

You rocked at Provstock. So did your troupe. Tell them they were sweet. I'll have to visit you. Probably next year.
