Enough time has passed since my last entry, and upon reading Sis's one page summary of Winter break, I realize that I've forgotten most of the stuff that's happened, or most of it (after almost a week) is meaningless trivial shit that's only relevant to a few people (most likely those who went to Washington, DC) so I'm going to try to keep this brief.
*Folger Shakespeare Library: Victorian letter writing, Globe theatre, and Shakespeare action figures.
*Java Green: Vegetarian and vegan foods. I prefer being an omnivore.
*Washington Metro: Cheap and easy. Three days and I'm hot shit with the farecards as long as Jacob tells me when and where and how much to pay.
*Jacob's father: Sells diamonds to dirty lawyers.
*Shaolin Monks: The shit.
*Smithsonian Art museum: Russian art. No throwing pennies from three stories into fountains.
*The Marrakesh: Seven courses of amazing Mongolian cuisine (especially course two; tried lamb, couscous, hummus) with no silverware served to you by a waiter wearing a fez. It looked like a scene from Indiana Jones. Oh, and there was a bellydancer at the end. Add that one to the list of very hot professions. It was even better than the sword swallowers and fire-breathers I secretly hoped for.
*Jacob's family: Fun people that actually do stuff in DC.
*Max: Allergic to a cat?
*Kennedy Center: Free concerts 365 days a year. Very classy.
*Sis and Jacob = Awesome.
*Bradley's birthday: Soon.
*New Queen album and DVDs: Live Magic, Live at Wembley Stadium, Live at the Bowl.
*Chinese restaurant: Met Jacob's extended family. Tried Mongolian Beef, tofu, and duck.
*Smithsonian National Air and Space museum:
Oh how I love the halls of this magnificent tribute to the desire of mankind to fly and explore. The desire that I feel in my blood every time I look toward the sky. I managed to cover 90% of the museum in a little less than five hours and, although I pretty much could tell you anything about everything there, I got to see some of the changes since 8th grade as well as really see some historic things with my own eyes. There's few greater pleasures than seeing the yellow glint of sun off of the propellers of the Spirit of St. Louis or the sleek polished curves of the Bell X-1. I want to live there. Then maybe I wouldn't spend 94 dollars in the gift shop, mostly on books and coins. I guess "broke college student" is easier to live with now that I've got a 400 page biography on Lindbergh to get through.
Speaking of books...I finished around 740 of 1,000 pages for break. Sis, you won. Congratulations.
Long ass ride home, same way back. Packed the car and left at 12:00 from Washington DC and drove through five states, home by 9. One last Gold Star meal, then I had to shower, do laundry, and pack and be in Lawrenceburg by 11. I wonder what the house will look like when I get back for Spring Break. Got a ride back to Purdue through three more states with the Seitzs where I found out there was snow on our beautiful campus. Got to school by 4 and unpacked by 10, when Jason finally got back.
Grades, GPA, EAI, schedule, classes, professors, TAs, etc. I'll save for some other post. I gotta get my ass to bed.
