"takes play very seriously"

Things are looking bright for next semester. Even though my engineering track was thrown off by having to take remedial physics, I walked away from the registration session with 17 credit hours (compared to 15 this semester) and a total of 4 classes (compared to 5): Calculus 162, Chemistry 116, Physics 152, and English 106.

I was really afraid there for a moment they'd try to stick me with 19 credit hours or something, because Freshman Engineers need to complete a certain set of classes before completing the curriculum and some professional schools (such as Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering) require a few other specialized classes (programming, CAD/computer graphics). Rather than cram all the classes into this next semester and kill myself, I'm really considering taking a summer semester here at Purdue. I could take 6 or so credit hours (real mellow workload) for a few weeks and get home right about when all my friends get back from college. Do I love Purdue enough to stay longer, work extra, and get ahead of the competition?

Looking ahead...I'm also considering not staying in the dorms next year. Jason is planning on transferring at the end of the year, and Jen and Jasmine want me to live off campus with them, finding a 4th person to split the cost. I honestly always imagined myself as a Senior still living in the dorms because it's one less thing to worry about. The apartment would be cheaper, yes, but there's more responsibility, and I don't want to hurt my friendships. Sis is in an apartment at Miami, and I think it's good for her, but there's insurance and bills to worry about, car, maintenance, furniture, and a slew of other things. Adults live in apartments, and I don't know if I feel that grown up yet. Still, if I was looking to "get out of the comfort zone", this would probably fit quite nicely. I wouldn't have hall meetings, I could play my music louder, and would have a lot more room. There's a lot of time between now and then, though, so I'll ponder that one for a while.

A bit of sports fandom has been brewing inside me lately...
*Purdue lost to the Michigan Wolverines in a second consecutive last-three-minute-fumble last weekend, making them 5-2, 2-2 Big Ten. This weekend they play Northwestern (away) and try to regain some momentum (and pride).
*Purdue and the Civil Engineering dept. are considering making a frisbee golf course here on campus.
*Red Sox came back from a three game deficit to beat the evil Yankee Empire and are now leading the World Series 2-0 (despite the pitcher's ankle problem).
*The Bengals beat the Broncos after a 12 year break from Monday Night Football, while a record-breaking 68,000 Cincinnati football fans were simply hoping to avoid embarrassment.

BOILER UP! GO SOX! WHO DEY!

  1. Looks like the semester is comming to an end for you too. Good luck with the dorm situation. Personally i'd stay on campus and enjoy the way of life as is. You just moved into the dorm, enjoy it while it lasts.

  3. Haha...not quite coming to an end. We still have two months, Thanksgiving break, registration to confirm, a round of midterms, Finals, a few lab practical exams, two more Engineering projects...
