So this weekend has been really mellow (or so everybody else around here says), and it still rocks out loud.
*Friday I got to sleep in past a non-existant calculus lecture.
*Owned the physics quiz.
*Stayed awake through chemistry lecture.
*Got a bit of Engineering homework done for our project, and might've come up with a design (from my Science Challenge experience) that will rock their feeble engineering world, if I can sneak it past the TAs.
*Got FREE Subway for pretending like I cared about a CitiBank card. Yeah, I definitely used to hate Subway, but sis showed me the light. And when I say "light," I mean "meatball subs."
*Worked out.
*Went to Improv (next week, my goal is to participate in two events...perhaps I can take the place of truly god-awfully unfunny people who we don't have the heart to tell have no place in improv) and laughed my ass off, as usual. Contemplating spending 15 precious dollars on an Improv shirt.
*Helped Jasmine set up her futon...
Jasmine: dude come help me
Jasmine: i need at engineers touch
Jasmine: cuz i cant do this on my own
Jasmine: ur awesome lol
Yup. That's right. Call the engineer. She called me an engineer. *ego boost*
*Fasted sundown Friday to sundown Saturday, a full 24 hours for Yom Kippur. No, I'm not Jewish, and didn't convert...but sis was talking about it because she's all about Jacob. So I picked it up partially for religious/spiritual openmindedness, and mostly as moral support for sis, who didn't think she could make it. But she did- no food for a full day! Congratulations. Um...mazeltav. Annnyway...she celebrated by gorging herself beyond her stomach capacity (if you catch my drift), while Jasmine lied about her age to get me more free Subway (Sarah and Jasmine went to the mall, bought me and Jason dinner, and when they found out I don't like Chinese food, went to Subway). More than made up for the futon. It was damn good, too, and not just because I hadn't eaten in quite some time.
*Watched "Inverview With A Vampire". Definitely have heard awesome things about this movie. Definitely thought it sucked (pun intended) beyond description.
*Slept in Saturday till noon. Kinda just got up, turned on the tv...hey! Purdue's leading, and managed to beat Illinois 38-30. First Big Ten victory, now we're 3-0. Definitely am embarassed by our defense and equally proud of our QB, Kyle Orton. Was very confused why the "Fightin' Illini" marching band was playing the "Imperial March" from Star Wars. Perhaps our team will learn from this game and A. not get a million fouls and B. improve our defense. Jasmine came over to watch the last quarter and fixed our cable, similar to when Sarah fixed our "stuck" window (nobody told me about those tiny little buttons...).
*Worked out some more.
*Finally heard from Will Ligget over at West Point.
*My Star Wars DVD is sitting in the mailroom. The mailroom is not open until 6pm Monday evening. Damnit.
Now it's Saturday night and I'm hanging out with Jason, Jasmine, Terry, and Sarah. I think they're gonna try to get me to eat pizza.
Tomorrow's tentative plans:
sleep in
eat breakfast
homework
haircut
go to see Ravi Shankar perform

as resident Illini expert:
ReplyDeleteImperial March has been played by the marching band as long as I remember... usually played on occasions of opposing team losing momentum
I suppose they think it invokes fear
... also used in trying to be defiant losing situation, the student section will shake our fists to the beat
ReplyDeleteThat makes no sense, though. They're the "Fightin' Illini" not the "Imperials"
