I finally got to see "The Score" starring Al Pacino, Marlon Brando, and Edward Norton.
See, the thing about this movie is that I remember seeing a preview for it in theatres once, a long time ago. I really think Ed Norton is a good actor, and the caper movie looked really cool. But I forgot the title, and couldn't find it, and eventually, the movie was lost from my memory. Fast forward to a week ago, when I watched an old VHS of Enemy at the Gates and saw a preview for it. A quick trip to Blockbuster, a few dollars later, and it was excellent. Classic, solid caper movie.
Oh, I'm sorry. You don't know what a "caper movie" is? Caper. Heist. Scheme. Bank robberies. Safe cracking. Fast cars. Jewel theft. Movies like The Italian Job, Ocean's 11 (and the upcoming Ocean's 12), Quick Change, Gone in 60 Seconds, Thomas Crown Affair, The Princess Bride, and Lucky Numbers. Characters like Maverick (the card player, not the pilot), Sgt. Bilko, or the Rat Pack (old school). A story about a skilled highly motivated con artist who assembles a crack team of specialists who spend their energies breaking rules, stealing money or priceless items from their enemies, and usually winning the girl in the process. Or some variation.
A caper means stealin' it from the man.
