"Like a falcon in the dive"

>Insert cliche about how awesome and fast the past few days were here<

Graduation
Not much to say, actually, now that the actual day has passed. All the emotion and epic thoughts dissipated after a while. Crap. Should'a written this earlier.
I was a little nervous, but not as bad I usually am. I thought the gown looked goofy. Kevin and Matt had good speeches (Kevin. Work on your "satisfying friends threats" part), much better than the administration. Emily Dunn is the meanest girl in the world. Really. It was nice to see all my new friends from Amelia graduate and recieve what they've rightfully earned- congratulations to all. Thanks to all that've helped me get where I am (especially Mom, Dad, Sis, Brad, and my grandparents). I was suprised to see Fedus there, but that actually meant something to me also. I was also suprised that the students were behaved and didn't screw up anything major, that honor fell to Mr. Elmendorf. I still hate Dr. Liebold. As soon as it was over, I grabbed my diploma, grabbed Collett, my "giraffe," to find my parents, and then bolted.

Post-Graduation
*Strong Bad voice* It's over!
Nothing, from now on, is mandatory (with the exception of taxes, and death). Weird feeling. I need to get to college soon, though, before the shock of that fades and I end up doing nothing for the rest of my life. ^_^ I'm still used to school enough that going to college won't be too bad. Skipping a year could ruin me. Lol. It's nice that this summer, I have nothing, school-wise. No summer work (placement tests don't count). No AP work I should be doing. Instead, I'm gonna hang out with my friends more, like David, Dan, and Eric. I don't know if I even want to fool with a jorb this summer. We'll see. *contented sigh*
Speaking of AP, I already can't wait for my scores.

Being 18
Like all other birthdays, I don't "feel" different. Things, however, are different. I already registered for the Selective Service (the draft). Need to renew my driver's liscence. I can buy cigarettes and see nude women. Mom and dad no longer bother me about bed times, and ask that I call if I'm going out. Alcohol is not such a taboo thing now. Considering a change in the look, ditching the sideburns and growing a goatee. w00t.
Still don't know what to spend my birthday money on (separate from my college money).

Graduation Parties
Congratulations, and thanks for the following parties:
Jason Collett (nice music)
Peter Whitford (nice pool)
JJ Bradley (sorry I couldn't make it)
Daniel Wagers (nice cousins)
Kevin McDonald (nice house)
Brandon Bowman (sorry I couldn't make it)
I'm already sick of party food, and Karen Wheeler, David Brentlinger, and Chris Stobart's parties are still to come. I can't wait.

My Party
Rain cancelled the cicadas, but no frisbee golf. Sux0rs. What can you do, though? I was very happy with all the people that came- friends, family, distant family, coworkers, family friends, teachers (that was a suprise). I still have yet to write my thank-you letters. *Procrastinated!* Ended up with some nice luggage, a DVD, book, LIFE magazine, a hat, and lots of money.

Lots of Money
Looking forward to buying my own computer. My own computer that nobody shares, nobody messes with, where all the mistakes are mine, and the customizing options are nobody's choice but mine. The debate still continues, however, between a laptop and a desktop.

  1. For the computer, whether it be a laptop or desktop, price shouldn't effect your decision because they are both nearly identical in price, depending on the specs you're looking for. All that you have to think of is what would be more convinient for you.

I'm thinking of getting a laptop for my grad present, but will wait till the end of summer to see if anything better may come about by then...and the price will surely drop by then too.

  2. I hiiiiiiighly recommend a desktop (PC). Maybe you should mention the debate to Jared? He has both and can give you pros and cons, I'm sure. --Eebs

  3. Dave, sorry to say this, but you're definitely wrong on the whole "about the same" cost thing. Most laptops cost 1000$ more than a desktop with the same specs, just because the parts are more expensive because they use a different technology.

    Laptop:
    + Mobility
    + Size
    + Secret Agent look
    ---
    - Batteries
    - Upgrades
    - Ability / Price

    Desktop:
    + Upgrades
    + Ability / Price
    + Overall Usability
    ---
    - Size
    - Mobility
    - Sleek-sexiness ;)

Myself, I'd go with a desktop if you're ever going to be interested in any type of gaming or multimedia.

If you're using it for school and maybe some internet stuff.. and other stuff.. then laptop is the way to go.

  4. Well, base prices are the same, but if you want to trick yours out then yeah the laptops are much more. I would know because I go onto Dells website seeing how much bang for my buck I can get hehe
