Weekend Olympics

Friday night mom took me to "Smokey Bones," the new resturant on Beechmont. Pretty standard as ribs joints go, although they are officially banned from making green beans ever again.

Saturday- all day- was Science Olympiad.
Jason wasn't ready quite as early as planned, so I missed breakfast. Didn't realize that "Piqua" wasn't "Cincinnati State" and slept for the 2 hours it took to get to the cornfield-ridden school. Competition was insane- of the 21 teams, 7 were previous state teams.

Wright Stuff- the average flight time was 2 or 3 minutes, and Bryant and I pulled off a time of 36 seconds. Last year I placed 4th with a flight time of 12 seconds. Kudos to Bryant for doing all the work and building the plane while I was recovering.

Astronomy- identify 20 distorted, false-color pictures of various nebulae in the sky, give the M number and the constellation it's located in. Yeah. Right.

Dynamic Planet- here's a map with no directions, key, or references. Identify the cause and effects of landmarks and geologic events you must identify. Yeah. Right. Complete B.S.

Remote Sensing- here's 30 images of major world cities, some are infra-red, some are false-colored, topographic, or satellite. Identify them. Yeah. Right. Found out what a "tombolo" was.

After all of that, we sat through an hours worth of 6th through 1st place awards for 21 teams, 2 divisions, 20 events. We got about 6 medals in 6th and 4th place. Piqua won 60% of everything. The team didn't even stay for all of it. Then Wilburn treated us to Wendy's and we got home at 8 or so. Slept on the bus home.

Then I went to hang out at Karen's with Karen, Brandon, Chris, Jason, Ginger, Paul, and Andy. Ginger won Uno this time, and Jason and I teamed up for another round of RISK. We couldn't stay long enough to finish though, and we left around midnight (that'll teach those guys to mess with Pirates, eh, Jason? Byarg! Bug North America!).

Then I got home to find my sister home from college on Spring Break with her boyfriend, Mark, and her friend, Jared. Mark, the pyromaniac and physics boy (:::bows:::) and Jared, the massive illegal computer god (:::bows:::). We stayed up playing Gamecube.

Woke up Sunday morning because mom was yelling at me. Played Gamecube. Ate some waffles. Cleaned up the house. Watched Back to the Future II.

Later.
