More post surgery crap to deal with- I had to have an EMG today, for my nerve-damaged foot. Electromyography. Stick Ryan full of needles and add electricity. Repeatedly.
After waiting for 2 hours, the doctor took us back in a quiet room full of computer equipment, wires, ect. The doctor attached 3 electrodes on my leg and foot, with medical tape. Then he grabs a double-pronged wire attached to a battery, and proceeds to shock parts of my leg. Hurts like hell, and my leg is spasming all over the place. The computer screen shows a graph of my muscle activity- it's off the screen. He does this for 10 minutes in 8 places. Then he pulls out a needle, and shoves it into different parts of my leg. My calf muscle, my thigh, parts of my foot. He then wiggles it around (I can feel the needle bruising my muscles, just like when I give blood) and tells me to move different parts of my leg (further bruising). Then he rips off the electrodes (pulling the hair off with it). Then he moves the needle to the base of my spine. OW. Turns out I'm not completely numb there- I felt that needle.
So now I'm here. My leg is still a little sore. I hope I never have to do that again.
