Another thing about work, I can't help but feel really young at work. Har har, I know, nursing home, old people, ect. However, I feel that I deserve a certain level of respect, despite my age. I'm 17, almost an adult. I go to school, work 20+ hours a week, I'm a pilot, I can drive, and I take college-level courses my senior year. Does that count for anything in the real world? All signs point to no. Nobody at work recognizes the fact that I go to school, 5 days a week, get up at 6 and get home at 2:30. They also don't recognize my 1-2 hours of homework (average) a night (my procrastination and denial of this, notwithstanding). They treat me like a child. Even though our biggest cart is twice my height and width and carries over 70 trays, even if I struggle to push it the slightest, they call me a "runt," never mind the fact that I can steer and park it as well as, if not better than, Bill, our senior dishwasher. Some of the nurse aides change their language and apologize to me when they cuss in front of me.....c'mon guys, I go to a public high school......give me some credit. Ultimately, it's depressing. The only reason I put up with it is because I put up with it for 8 dollars an hour.
