Lately, there's been quite a hot little debate going on on Eric's blog about NHS and the activities therein. I've always felt kinda bad, a little hippocritcal about being in NHS, because I feel like I only joined it to look better on a college application. A) I think volunteer work is overrated (by college applications by the least), and B), I think people should only volunteer for things they really enjoy/feel passionate about. SO why am I in NHS to begin with, you ask? I'll admit, partially because I don't think I can get in without >some< volunteer work, partially because I like the way it feels/sounds. I do do volunteer work outside NHS, stuff I really do care about, and I have trouble justifying my membership in NHS. I also agree, to some degree, about Eric's thoughts about the money vs. activity in NHS. I also agree, to some point, about Risley and Michal how I/we should stop complaining about NHS and do something about it. I don't really know what to do. I'm just as busy as the rest of us. (Making a long story short) Here's my two cents: Eric- I agree- we do spend an awful lot on frivoulous, shallow stuff and in the end, there's little to justify it all. To our officers- I agree that we should do something about it- but we elected you to guide us and inspire us- lead by example.
